Building Note:
Located along the Cumberland River, Shelby Bottoms Nature Park and Greenway offers 810-acres of natural surroundings, including twelve miles of trails, and habitats for birds, amphibians, and more. Prior to construction of the nature center, the architects envisioned a structure that reflected the sense of being on the water and decided to mimic a pier. The extensive green roof over the public meeting space provides the park building with an effective roof covering and a nature display for the center. This project has been recognized by the State of Tennessee and the American Institute of Architects for it's sustainable design. |

Detail:
Our company supplied all the materials, growth media, and plantings and installed the entire system. A variety of sedum plants were chosen for their hardiness and ability to withstand drought. The scope of work also included flashing, custom fabricated drainthrough edge metal, and gutter. We also integrated a rain chain to funnel water to the ground in lieu of a downspout. |
